Indigenous Food Workshop with Rob Kinneen
The Alaska Native Arts Foundation is excited to partner with North American Traditional Indigenous Food Systems and First Light Alaska to support an Indigenous food workshop led by Rob Kinneen. This workshop will take place on October 20, 2026 from 2-4 pm at Covenant House in downtown Anchorage. During the workshop participants will learn how to prepare traditional indigenous foods such as seal, salmon and berries, while discussing pre-contact values and contemporary preparations. Press Release: RESISTANCE Exhibition opening in October
The Alaska Native Arts Foundation is pleased to present the exhibition RESISTANCE as a pop-up event at the Wild Birch Hotel on Wednesday, October 21, 2026 between 7-11 pm. This exhibition includes a diverse array of artwork that responds to the theme through sculpture, prints, flags, textile works, short films, and photography. Recognizing that not all art is made to be hung on walls, the event will have an open stage to have space to share dance, poetry, and song. Drew Michael Northern Artist Residency: Jessica Winters (Inuit)
The Alaska Native Arts Foundation is thrilled to be a supporter of the inagural Drew Michael Northern Artist Residency at the Anchorage Museum. The residency program was conceived of by Drew Michael who began building an endowment for this project at the Anchorage Museum in 2019. Michael wanted to create an opportunity to give artists space and time to dedicate to research, while experiencing the beauty of Alaska.
